This is an amazing interactive site that shows all of the bomb strikes during the London Blitz, Oct 7, 1940 – June 6th, 1941. You can search for specific streets and layer a current satellite image onto the map. Now you know why all those modernist housing estates popped up all over London in the 1950s.
I can’t image living through this. Search a little further in the site and you’ll find images and commentary from those who did. I had always known about the Blitz, but had no idea of the extent of the bombing.
Thanks to Melinda for sending this site to my husband, Tom.
